Our word

Work we’re proud to put our name on.

We’re building Granite Coast for the long haul. That means doing the work the right way, even when nobody would notice the shortcut — and telling you the truth about your home, even when it isn’t what you hoped to hear.

We show up and finish what we start

We arrive when we say we will and stay on your job until it’s done — no juggling ten jobs at once. If an inspection or materials hold us up, you’ll know why and when we’re back.

Done right the first time

The right materials and methods, with no shortcuts — including the ones nobody would see.

Respect for your home

Floors protected, dust contained, and the work area cleaned up at the end of every day.

Honest scope, in writing

Written estimates that spell out what’s included — and what isn’t — and written change orders you approve before anything changes.

What we do

From a repair list to a full renovation

Finished interior renovation: open living area with new flooring, trim, and a kitchen island

Renovations & remodeling

Interior updates, the repairs a renovation uncovers, and one point of contact to keep the project organized.

New deck with white railings, lattice skirting, and stairs on a tan-shingled home

Decks & outdoor structures

New decks, repairs, and replacements built to stand up to Maine winters, freeze and thaw.

Specialty service

Lead abatement & lead-safe renovation

Maine DEP-licensed · EPA RRP-certified

Licensed abatement and certified lead-safe renovation for older homes, with a plain-English walk-through of every step.

Repairs & handyman work

Small-to-medium repairs, maintenance, and punch lists — the jobs that pile up.

Appliance repair

Washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and more — with an honest call on repair versus replace.

Drain cleaning

Slow or backed-up drains in kitchens, baths, and laundry. Tell us the symptoms and we’ll talk it through.

Crawl space encapsulation & insulation

Vapor barriers, sealing, and insulation that keep crawl spaces dry and floors warmer through a Maine winter.

Air sealing, insulation & thermal scans

A thermal camera scan shows where heat is escaping — then we seal and insulate the problem spots.

Plumbing & electrical coordination

When your project needs a licensed plumber or electrician, we coordinate the right one so you’re not juggling trades.

Own an older home?

Lead work deserves a specialist — and a straight explanation.

Many Maine homes built before 1978 have lead-based paint somewhere under the layers. Granite Coast is licensed for lead abatement by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (License LC-0279), and an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm for renovation and repair work that disturbs old paint. Tell us what you know about your home — you don’t need to diagnose anything first.

Please don’t disturb suspect paint
No scraping, sanding, or chipping to “check” or to take photos. Photos of the area as it is now are plenty.

How we work

Clear from the first call to the final walk-through

01

Tell us about the job

Call, email, or send the short estimate form. Photos help.

02

We look and listen

We see the real conditions and talk through what you want — and what the house needs.

03

Scope in writing

A written estimate, and a signed contract for larger work, so everyone agrees before we start.

04

Done right, left clean

We do the work, clean up after ourselves, and walk through the finished job with you.

Recent work

Every job gets the same standard.

From a seasonal camp to a multi-unit building to the stairs on a rental home — the size of the job changes, but the way we do it doesn’t.

Porch deck and stairs rebuilt to code

This porch wasn’t safe and didn’t meet code. We built brand-new stairs and stringers, replaced every rail and baluster, added new rail posts, replaced and flashed the header, reinforced the existing framing with structural screws, repaired the deck boards, and added fascia trim. It now meets code — and the railings are far safer for kids than what was there before.

The details that make it last: every cut edge treated with copper naphthenate to keep rot out where the factory treatment doesn’t reach, joist tape on the tops of the stringers, PVC base pads so no wood sits on concrete, and the stairs anchored to a new concrete slab with concrete anchors.

Rusted bulkhead door restored

We treated the rust, primed with a rust-inhibiting primer made for heavily rusted steel, and finished with two coats of durable metal paint — years more life for the door.

The wood supports under the bulkhead are rotting.

The next phase: the wood supports underneath are rotting. Refinishing the door now should give it another 5–10 years, and the owner chose to stop there for this year. Next summer we can lift the bulkhead off, remove the rotted wood, build a new base of concrete blocks that water can’t rot, and reset the door with masonry anchors and sealant — so the rot never comes back.
